So, I decided to try a little at home MSG-free alternative and you know what? It was damn good! It even got my husbands seal of approval and I made it with brown rice instead of starchy white. Hope y'all enjoy!

First marinate the meat in the following mixture for at least 1 hour ( I marinated mine all day while I was at work)
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp low sodium soy sauce (must use low sodium or it will be s.a.l.t.y. lol)
- 1 tsp water
- 2 tsp vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 lbs. flank stank cut into thin strips or precut fajita meat
1. Wisk all the above ingredients in a bowl together and toss meat in. Marinate in the fridge for at least one hour.
2. Now you need to make the sauce. Mix together in a seperate bowl from the marinade
- 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp light brown sugar
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tbsp flour
- You'll also need about 3 cups of broccoli heads/florets. I used the ones that come raw in a bag that you can steam.
Set Aside.
3. In a large saute pan or wok if you have one heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil and sautee broccoli until desired doneness. I sauteed them for about 4-5 minutes and they cooked through with just a little bit of crunch. Set aside on a plate.
4. Add 1 tbsp vegetable oil to the hot pan and pour in marinated meat and half of the pre-made sauce. Cook until the meat is no longer pink then add the broccoli and the remaining sauce and cook till heated through.
6. Serve with white or brown rice or even noodles would be good. I used brown rice because I'm making an effort to cook healthier this year.
I hope everyone enjoys this meal. It was so delicious and quick and easy to whip up after a long day of work :)
